Orpheum Theatre
After performances in the world's most popular locations as well as Broadway itself and London's West End, Hamilton will now also be performing for a limited season this spring in Orpheum theatre of Minneapolis, an especially regarded venue popular for its unrivaled facilities fit to host top-of-the-line productions and shows. The Hamilton National Tour will run from April 20 through May 22, 2027, with performances presented by Hennepin Arts / Broadway on Hennepin at this historic Beaux Arts-style theater, originally opened in 1921.
The Musical honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceived and scored by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, based off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It retells the historical story of Hamilton himself in a 'hipper' style, being close to the events behind Hamilton's life but with hip-hop, R&B, jazz and Broadway musical choices that makes Hamilton extremely entertaining. Hamilton originally began off Broadway in August of 2015 and was instantly met with incredible reviews from its opening night. As well as plenty of critics and fans, The Washington Post, called it "making ecstatic history", as Hamilton's stella with its incredible cast including the likes of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the main role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, wowed fans in its top-teir with a legendary production. Hamilton went on over the next decade to win 11 Tony Awards from sixteen nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize Awards, including the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Ever since its debut, Hamilton has since traveled to perform in several entertainment venues across the globe, where it has been getting continuously great reviews. Seen by more than 28 million people throughout America, BroadwayWorld calls Hamilton "the hottest ticket in town", as it appeals to a bigger range in audience due to it being accessible to both the older decades who were interested in the history behind Hamilton and the newer fans that came for the new and artistic concept behind this production. Over in London's West End, TimeOut mentions their worry behind Hamilton being overblown, but that "Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests". More so, recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines' performance, PEP PH describes the production as a "visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the story-telling"; "This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage", they add.
Both critics and audiences alike agree that Hamilton is a must-attend this spring as it picks up its performances all over America. The 2 hour and 45 minute production (including intermission) features direction by Thomas Kail and choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and is recommended for ages 10+.
