BEYOND HISTORY, IT’S OUR STORY

SUFFS go beyond the history of women’s suffrage itself — it’s a longstanding legacy of women who tirelessly fought so that the future generation can live in a better place, where women can vote just as men. From then on, the world had forever changed, impacting society around the globe. It’s not just another musical—it’s a marvel that dives deep into the triumphs and obstacles of a mission for equality. For many decades now, women have had the right to vote, however the fight is far from over. 

The musical chronicles how it all began, and the rough journey it took for this amazing group of women to change the world forever. Today, it’s still our story. Beyond voting, women have and are still fighting for equal rights all over the world, and this tale extends through the present day. Their role in women’s suffrage have inspired global movements for equal rights, against discrimination, and other causes that ensure the welfare of women today. 

It’s a narrative that highlights conflict, debate, and the personal sacrifices that Alice Paul and Carrie Chapman Cat made to ensure that the world could be a better place. It’s a celebration of what these historical figures from the early 20th century have begun. As said, the fight isn’t over, but we’re stronger than ever. 

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Created by Shaina Taub and directed by Leigh Silverman, Suffs the Musical chronicles the historical events that led to the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1920. It premiered off-Broadway in 2022, and opened on Broadway in April 2024. Winning two Tony Awards among six nominations, it’s clear that this musical is a legendary masterpiece that not only entertains with its magnificent and amusing production, but also educates, inspires, and empowers. 

With a North American tour scheduled to begin this fall, SUFFS is conquering the map with shows that’ll leave you changed — a new way of seeing the world. Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman are the main producers of the musical, partnering with various co-producers for the new trek. Moreover, they have a talented roster in its cast and creative team, ensuring that this story dedicated to all women is shared in the most impactful way possible.
