SYNOPSIS
It is 1928, and seemingly girlish and innocent chorusgirl Roxy Hart, who ‘nobody walks out on’, shot and killed her lover after he attempted to break off his extramarital affair with her. She convinces her husband that she was a victim, and he decides to take the fall for it. But when the truth comes out, Roxy confesses and is arrested.
Inside the Cook County Jail, the merry murderesses are held on accounts of murdering their lovers. Among them is vaudevillian and sultry murderess Velma Kelly, who the prison guard, Matron “Mama” Morton helped to achieve fame as the media’s top murderess-of-the-week with her bribe system, and is also acting as a booking agent for Velma’s big return to Vaudeville as a bigger – more infamous – star than ever. Velma is greatly unimpressed with Roxy – who didn’t only steal her limelight, but also her lawyer – Billy Flynn, who is turning Roxy into a media favorite and encourages her to bring that ol’ razzle dazzle to her trial.
The question however is, what happens when false narrative, scandal, jealousy, and fame steps into the game?
This is your guarantee: CHICAGO is scandalously delicious, wonderfully glitzy, breathtakingly sassy, mesmerizingly full of mayhem, and gorgeously sizzling!

HISTORY AND LEGACY
Maurine Dallas Watkins’ 1926 play of the same title about actual crimes she reported made for a solid story to base a juicy musical on – it has all the corruption in criminal justice, scandals, and comments on the topic of the ‘celebrity criminal’ one could hope for.
The gloriously sexy CHICAGO, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, and sparkling original choreography by Bob Fosse – whose style is synonymous with CHICAGO, premiered in 1975 on Broadway at the 46th Street Theatre. The production was an instant hit, and after many runs around the globe, saw a massive revival on Broadway in 1996 and on the West End in 1997. CHICAGO became the longest-running musical revival in history – and is still ongoing.
To date, the CHICAGO award-shelf is groaning heavily under the weight of six Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards, a special citation by New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards, and a Grammy Award.
The 2002 film adaptation featuring Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Richard Gere, received no less than six Academy Awards.
