Synopsis

Set during the Great Depression, Water for Elephants follows young Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student whose life crumbles after a tragic loss. Hopeless and directionless, he hops aboard a moving train, only to find it's the home of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth - a ragtag circus teetering on the edge of. As Jacob cares for the animals, including the extraordinary elephant Rosie, he falls in love with Marlena, the beautiful star performer trapped in a volatile marriage to the tyrannical ringmaster, August. Told through memories from an elderly Jacob's perspective, the story brings themes of optimism, forbidden romance, and the magic of the big top. It reminds us that life's biggest surprises come when we least expect them.
